Life and wellness can be viewed in a number of ways. I find that a pie or circle divided into physical, social, emotional, spiritual, occupational and intellectual areas works very well and easy to manage. Addressing each of these areas of wellness individually, gives you the opportunity to look at specific parts of your life more closely and determine if any improvements or changes are needed. Knowing where changes are needed, makes it much easier to set goals and create action plans that could make your life more enjoyable, healthy and comfortable.
How to do it:
You can start by drawing a circle and dividing it into six parts. Use a blank sheet of paper so your pie is fairly large as you are going to write some things in each slice. Make one pie slice for each wellness area (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, occupational and intellectual). I like to make mine colorful or with pretty borders. It seems to be uplifting and motivating to make it attractive and fun.
Next, write one desired change for each wellness area. You may write inside the pie slice for each. Thenwrite one action you can take to support each change. Lifestyle changes are most successful when we take small steps rather than going for a major overhauls!
Place your Pie of Life where you will see it every day. Check in daily with the goals or actions you have entered on the pie and encourage yourself to take the actions you have written in your pie slices.
The Pie of Life is simple and easy to create. Having it where you can see it is a constant reminder of your current goals and will help keep you on track and with your choice to take positive, helpful actions toward a happier, healthier life!
