Stress Management Center of Nevada
Yoga Teacher Training and Certification Program
Registered Yoga Alliance School – 200 and 500 Hour Training
The SMCN Yoga Teacher Training Program integrates the ancient teachings of Raja Yoga with the science of Hatha Yoga and cutting-edge research on the benefits of yoga and meditation. This program is for the aspiring yoga teacher who desires to help students lead less stressful and more mindful lives. The program will expand and enrich your personal teaching style.
Every facet of teaching yoga is addressed during the training from the anatomical dynamics of asanas and alignment, breath and pranayama, students with special problems, creating sacred space, to the meaning of chakras and the essence of the yogic way of life.
This program emphasizes the importance of assessing your yoga students' needs and limitations, use of effective teaching skills, your personal practice as your primary source of inspiration as a teacher and specific knowledge of the components of correct form and breath in yoga asanas and movements. Skill building, supervised teaching, knowledge through study, and personal practice combine to yield the exceptional teachers we are proud to certify at both the 200 hour and 500 hour levels.
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training - Basic Yoga Teacher Certification
200 hour certification provides a basic foundation for teaching yoga. The 200 hour program includes workshops, supervised teaching, assisting in live beginners yoga classes, extensive anatomy for yoga and home projects and study.
Workshops offer opportunities for honing your skills as a yoga teacher. Small group exercises within each workshop provide hands on experience. Such topics as breathwork, anatomy for yoga, meditation, Sanskrit, The Yoga Sutras, Ayurveda and restorative yoga are explored. Teaching skills and methods, lesson planning and how to teach and sequence asanas are an integral part of the workshops.
Supervised teaching classes provide a rich learning experience through practice-teaching with peer and faculty feedback in a supportive environment. Our philosophy is that learning occurs best in a positive, non-judgmental atmosphere.
Assisting in Yoga Basics for Beginners provides an opportunity to experience a live class taught by a certified instructor. Trainees will assist the teacher by setting up the classroom, demonstrate poses during class and observe the teaching of a beginner’s curriculum. The result of this process is an overall understanding of what it takes to run a yoga class smoothly and how to work with the limitations of those new to yoga.
Home projects include such activities as reading yoga books, writing lesson plans, and personal projects.
Requirements
A basic personal yoga practice and heartfelt desire to share yoga through teaching.
